BergamoScienza gets a makeover: a new system for the ecological and digital transition of scientific culture

BergamoScienza announces a major digital renovation project with the aim of expanding the accessibility and dissemination of scientific culture. The project envisages the development of a new system of e-learning and access to digital services, with a focus on inclusion and environmental sustainability.

Among the objectives of the project, funded by the European Union - Next Generation EU - PNRR Digital Transition Cultural and Creative Bodies, are:

  • Broadening accessibility: making cultural and scientific content accessible to a wider audience, including users with disabilities;
  • Educational innovation: developing exportable e-learning systems to promote active learning;
  • Digitisation of the archive: convert the paper and multimedia archive into digital format for wider and easier use;
  • Promoting sustainability: reducing environmental impact through digitisation and reducing physical travel, also developing community-based projects.

Accessibility at the click of a mouse

The digitisation of BergamoScienza's historical archive is a pillar of our project, opening the door to a broad and inclusive use. Streaming videos, enriched with subtitles for the deaf, and the booking interface, designed according to AGID (Agenzia per l'Italia Digitale) guidelines, guarantee an accessible and intuitive experience. Our aim is to build a digital ecosystem that simplifies access to science dissemination, placing the user at the centre and promoting his active participation.

Beyond the lecture: e-learning ignites curiosity

BergamoScienza e-learning revolutionises learning through a new cultural system offering dialoguing and interactive interfaces. The innovative platform promotes active and participatory learning, offering the opportunity to interact directly with qualified lecturers and experts. The central objective is to create a dynamic cultural exchange space, which not only stimulates the desire to deepen scientific knowledge, but also overcomes the limits of the traditional frontal lecture, encouraging a more engaging and stimulating approach.

Less emissions, more knowledge: science that respects the environment

The digitisation project also contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing the impact of BergamoScienza's cultural outreach activities. It is estimated that increased remote use will reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 8,000 tonnes per year, thanks to the reduction in physical travel.

A step forward for the future of BergamoScienza

With this new digital system, BergamoScienza confirms itself as an institution at the forefront of science dissemination, capable of innovating and adapting to the new challenges of the digital world. This project is not only an investment in technology, but an act of social responsibility, aimed at ensuring that culture is a right accessible to all, breaking down the barriers that often marginalise the most fragile. BergamoScienza aims to strengthen the dissemination of scientific knowledge, while stimulating the creation of shared and participatory knowledge. An important step towards a future in which scientific culture is increasingly accessible, inclusive and sustainable.
